We currently do not offer lyrical classes at this level. Dancers interested in the lyrical dance style need experience with jazz and ballet skills prior to exploring this style as lyrical is a combination of both jazz and ballet styles of dance. Young dancers must master basic technique before trying to conceptualize movement with emotion. |

Ages 8 to 11 years
Prerequisite: mastery of Ballet 1
Lyrical 2 is designed for students between the ages 8 and 11 who have completed and mastered Ballet 1. This class is geared for the beginning level dancer desiring to broaden their lyrical style background. This class begins to demonstrate how to use emotion through dance and music. The basic smooth movement will be practiced to prepare students for higher levels of lyrical dance. Each class incorporates a comprehensive warm-up, training of lyrical technique paired with the emotional and improvisation aspect of this unique style. Combinations using lyrical movements and technique will be learned and mastered. |
Ages 10 to 12 years
Prerequisite: Mastery of Lyrical, Ballet, and/or Jazz 2
Lyrical 3 is designed for students between the ages 10 and 12 who have completed and mastered Lyrical 2, Ballet and/or This class will now further develop student technique through more intricate and complex across the floor and center floor combinations. Further description and detail about emoting are taught throughout this class. Students are preparing to move into the Intermediate levels of Lyrical dance. Each class incorporates a comprehensive warm-up, training of lyrical technique paired with the emotional and improvisation aspect of this unique style. Combinations using more complex choreography technique will be learned and mastered. |
Ages 12 and up
Prerequisite: Mastery of Lyrical, Ballet, and/or Jazz 3
Intermediate Lyrical is designed for students ages 12 and older who have completed and mastered Lyrical, Ballet and/or Jazz 3. This class will now further develop student technique through more intricate and complex across the floor and center floor combinations and learn smooth movements through across the floor and center floor combinations. This is an excellent class for students who want to explore different ways to express themselves through their dance. Intermediate Lyrical incorporates more emotions and inspiration while utilizing jazz technique. Each class incorporates a comprehensive warm-up, training of lyrical technique paired with the emotional and improvisation aspect of this unique style. Combinations using more complex choreography technique will be learned and mastered. |

Intermediate/Advanced Lyrical |
Ages 12 and up
Prerequisite: Mastery of Intermediate Lyrical, Ballet, and/or Jazz
Intermediate/Advanced Lyrical is designed for students ages 12 and older who have completed and mastered Intermediate Lyrical, Ballet and/or Jazz. This class is geared toward the intermediate dancer that is not quite ready for the advanced level. Advanced dancers looking for additional classes in their schedules should also take this class. Prerequisites include lower level jazz or lyrical classes, or teacher permission. Students continue to explore the emotional aspect of dance as well as fluid movement. Combinations are generally longer and are taught at a faster pace. The goal is for students to portray their emotions in a way that audience members can feel. |
