Ages 5 to 8 years No dance experience needed. Hip Hop 1 is designed for students between the ages of 6 and 9 who are interested in learning about the upbeat and fun dance form of hip hop. Ages 8 to 11 years Prerequisite: mastery of Hip Hop and/or Jazz 1 Hip Hop 2 is designed for students between the ages 8 and 11 who have completed and mastered Hip Hop and/or Jazz 1. This class introduces new second level hip hop movements and terminology and focus devoted on style and tricks like cartwheels, handstands and basic break dance moves. Each class incorporates a comprehensive warm-up, training of hip hop technique and style, and combinations incorporating hip hop movements and technique using prior class knowledge in addition to this level 2 class. |
Ages 10 to 12 years Prerequisite: mastery of Hip Hop 2 and/or Jazz 2 Hip Hop 3 is designed for students between the ages 10 and 12 who have completed and mastered Hip Hop and/or Jazz 2. This class introduces new third level of hip hop movements and terminology as well as additional tricks used in the hip hop form of dance. Different hip hop styles and performance techniques will be taught at a faster pace for exercise in choreography retention. Each class incorporates a warm-up, training of proper hip hop technique, and combinations using hip hop movements and technique learned from prior classes in addition to this level 3 class. |
Ages 12 and up Prerequisite: Mastery of Level 3 Hip Hop and/or Jazz Intermediate/Advanced Hip Hop is designed for students ages 12 and older who have completed and mastered level 3 of hip hop or jazz. This class is geared toward the intermediate/advanced dancer that is not quite ready for the advanced level. Advanced dancers looking for additional classes in their schedules should also take this class. Prerequisites include lower level jazz or hip hop classes, or teacher permission. Intermediate/Advanced Hip Hop focuses on developing the dancer’s individual personality and style of dancing while introducing specialty elements. Combinations are taught quickly and are technically challenging. Focus changes frequently to allow dancers an opportunity to hone their talents and dance more dynamically. Dancers’ improvisation skills are further developed here as well.
