Ages 12 & Up

**Please note - Age is used as a guideline, not as a rule. All dancers will be placed in the appropriate level once observed! 

Ballet

These classes work on higher levels of ballet movements and terminology while exploring and further mastering original choreography from ballet variations. Each class incorporates a formal ballet warm-up, training of proper ballet technique and combinations using ballet movements and technique learned in prior classes.

Choreography

Prerequisite: Level 3 dancers and higher

This class is geared towards dancers wanting to take their dancing to another level. Students will learn the art of creating sequences of movements in which motion and form are designed. They will learn techniques and tools to make them successful not only in their improvisation but also in their ability to create masterpieces. This class is a must for Intermediate/Advanced dancers.

Contemporary

These classes focus on developing the dancer’s individual personality and style of dancing while introducing specialty elements. Combinations are taught quickly and are technically challenging. Focus changes frequently to allow dancers an opportunity to hone their talents and dance more dynamically. Dancers’ improvisation skills are further developed here as well. Students continue to explore the emotional aspect of dance as well as fluid movement. Combinations are generally longer and taught at a faster pace. The goal is for students to portray their emotions in a way that audience members can feel. 

Floor Barre

No prerequisites

Floor Barre is great for all ages and skill levels! During class dancers will be guided through a series of stretching and strengthening exercises. (All exercises can be done with a theraband for added resistance.) These exercises are ballet based and are done on the floor. This class is a perfect way to start your week with deep breathing and meditation.

Hip Hop

These classes focus on different hip hop styles and performance techniques and will be taught at a faster pace for exercise in choreography retention. They also develop the dancer’s individual personality and style of dancing while introducing specialty elements. Combinations are taught quickly and are technically challenging. Focus changes frequently to allow dancers an opportunity to hone their talents and dance more dynamically. Dancers’ improvisation skills are further developed here as well. Each class incorporates a warm-up, training of proper hip hop technique and combinations using hip hop movements and technique learned in prior classes.

Jazz

These classes explore and expand jazz movements and terminology and elevated levels of turns and leaps. Combination instruction will be taught at a faster pace focusing on style and incorporating more difficult technique. Focus changes frequently to allow dancers an opportunity to hone their talents and dance more dynamically. Dancers’ improvisation skills are further developed here as well. Each class incorporates a formal jazz warm-up, training of proper jazz technique and combinations using jazz movements and technique learned in prior classes.

Leaps and Turns

This class focuses on turns and leaps through across the floor combinations. It is a nice addition to regular level jazz classes to really fine tune skills. Students looking to accelerate learning are encouraged to take this class.

Pre-Pointe

Pre-Pointe is designed for students who are interested on being en pointe in the future. This class introduces new strengthening and body readiness exercises valuable for any dancer interested in pointe. Each class incorporates a formal ballet warm up, training of proper technique as well as exploring the world of pointe shoes and body readiness. Prepare your body for pointe!

Pointe

Prerequisite: admission to class is by teacher recommendation or 2 years of Pre-Pointe.

Pointe will combine all aspects of Intermediate and Advanced Ballet. Students will develop the muscles in their legs and feet to successfully and safely dance en pointe.

Poms

These classes explore and expand pom movements and terminology and elevated levels of turns and jumps as well as kick line technique. Combination instruction will be taught at a faster pace focusing on intricate Pom motions and incorporating more difficult technique. Each class incorporates a formal warm-up focusing on strength and stretching, training of proper Pom technique and combinations using Pom movements and technique learned in prior classes.

Tap

In these classes, tap movement will be explored and expanded. Combinations and time-steps will be taught and perfected at this level with attention to proper rhythms and sounds. These classes are technically challenging and combinations will be taught more quickly.

Tumbling

These classes are for dancers looking to advance their tumbling and acro skills. Take your tumbling to the next level!
